Creating & Disabling a Resident

Managing Residents in Akssi

Overview
Residents are automatically added to Akssi through regular synchronization with your electronic health record (EHR). In most cases, you will not need to create residents manually.

Your EHR Is the Source of Record

Your EHR should be used to manage each resident’s status, including when a resident is discharged or leaves the facility.

After a resident’s status is updated in the EHR:

  1. Akssi will identify the change during the next scheduled sync.
  2. The resident’s status in Akssi will automatically update to match the EHR.

This helps keep resident information consistent across both systems.

When to Create a Resident Manually

You can manually add a resident from the Administration screen when needed. However, this option should only be used when:

  • There is a specific operational need to add the resident.
  • The resident is not yet available in Akssi through the EHR sync.

Because residents are regularly imported from the EHR, manual creation should be uncommon.

Disabling or Discharging a Resident

If a resident has been discharged or has left the facility, update the resident’s status directly in the EHR rather than manually disabling the resident in Akssi.

During the next sync, Akssi will recognize the EHR status change and automatically disable the resident.

Identifying Resident Status in Akssi

On the Administration screen, the resident’s display color indicates their current status:

  • Active residents appear in black or a darker color.
  • Disabled residents appear in light gray.

These visual indicators reflect the resident’s current status based on the latest EHR synchronization.
